Don’t know the solution? Do it anyway

My wife is a master seamstress, but she wouldn't say that.

She'll tell you she doesn't always know how to make something work when she accepts a job.

Yet she always — always — has gotten it to work. She figures it out and it looks great.

Is it safety, or is it fear?

Sometimes it's hard to tell, honestly, but often safety masks as fear.

“I need to practice more” might really mean “I'm afraid I'm not good enough.”

Or “I'll charge by the hour because I don't know how long it will take” might really mean “I'm afraid of not making a good hourly rate.”

Or even worse: “I'm afraid of charging what I'm worth.”

Growth doesn't happen in safety. It happens in discomfort and a bit of fear.

A product on an unknown topic, with a deadline

I've put myself on the hook doing a project with Joe Forrest over at his Niche of One Academy.

These links are affiliate links, which means I stand to earn a commission if you join, at no additional cost to you.

I've been developing relationships with other creators here — most of them are mentioned here — and Joe has been in my corner encouraging me for most of this year.

Joe is creating what's called a Gumroad Collaboration. Several creators contribute to the product and split the proceeds evenly.

What encouraged me to step up to do this is that he's putting this together for the first time as well.

We'll all be working it together over the span of a month or so, and I'm confident will figure it out!

So this is how I responded to the thread:

Sounds fun! I'll bring something to the table. I'm not sure what yet, but I'll think of something! 🤣

Joe has been working on setting up the logistics part, so we'll know soon what to create toward.
