With help from Indira Gandhi
Maybe at times you've been stuck. You stare at a blank screen, at a blank page, or at your microphone in silence.
That was me for the latter part of this summer for many evenings, and it's a sucky feeling.
This kernel from Indira Gandhi
Have a bias toward action – let's see something happen now. You can break that big plan into small steps and take the first step right away.
~Indira Gandhi
I'm perfectly capable of telling others the wisdom of having a bias toward action.
When it's about me, though, I've been freezing.
I'm ready to do something, but I can't muster the brain cells as to what.
Yes, I should have planned yesterday for what I'm going to do today. It should already be on my calendar.
I get that. I'm not there yet.
Here's my one easy step in the meantime.
I start working on the first creative thing that comes to mind.
I act. Now.
Is what I chose the best thing that I could be working on? Probably not.
Is it even what I should be working on? Who knows.
But it's a lot better than doing nothing.
Last night it was improving my Benable list on currency collecting.
Tonight it was picking a random post on my blog (from 2010!), and updating it.
Once unstuck it's much easier.
Tonight's work led to me updating another post (even older, 2005!) and then writing this atomic essay.
I'm kinda excited what I'll do tomorrow. I'm not sure yet!
But it will be something that moves things forward.
